Sterling Silver ‘Capstan’ Drop Earrings
$80.00
These stunning sterling earrings are named after a component found on many ocean vessels, a capstan. This metal, vertical-axled rotating machine is used on sailing ships to multiply the pulling force of deckhands when hauling ropes, cables and hawsers.
Exposure to the elements, especially out on the ocean, causes surfaces to be worn and discoloured in the same way that silver tarnishes over time. However, tarnish only affects only the outermost layers, protecting the underlying silver from further corrosion.
“Wear these earrings as a reminder that you are strong within and can withstand the elements.” – Kate White, Artist
Material: sterling silver
Approximate dimensions: 35mm from top of hook to base of earring. 11mm wide across circle section.
